My heart is exploding with joy, the book launch was a huge success! I know most of you live far from Buffalo so here’s the video with the lowdown of what happened:
In short: I got to say in a microphone in front of over 100 people: boobs, not to lie to children, and that kids should be allowed to read whatever they find interesting :P The video includes my presentation, reading, and Q&A.
On a weekend. With no customer service available.
Somehow...it all worked out <3
If you forget what the heck you were doing.
If you pick up your phone to check your calendar, see 2 new e-mails, open the first, follow a link and end up spending one hour on Tumblr and you don’t even know how it happened.
If you try to open your house with your office keys.
If you forgot on which book you were actually working last.
If you always carry a book in your bag.
If you think most people are weird for being (acting) normal.
If you listen to weird music.
If you have a weird sense of humor.
If you read all night and never want to get up in the morning.
If you have fictional friends.
If you have a rich vocabulary that includes words from fifteen different fandoms.
If you cry and don’t know why.
If even one of these things is true about you, well I thought I’d give you a heads up that you’re not alone. That’s all.
The text as I received it:
I hope this helped ^_^

And remember...just keep writing!
Still working on the cover of book 2! Cover reveal on Saturday, November 7th.
You: When does your draft become a book? How do you know when your book is finally done?
Me: If you’re writing your first book you will feel like a superhero just by getting at the end of your draft, but be patient. It takes a lot more than that. Leave the draft alone and start working on your new project. When you’re done with the draft of your new project go back to book one.
You: What? But that might mean months! Even years!
Me: So what? If you are a writer you’ll write for your whole life. Do me a favor and look at that first draft after a few months of working on something else.
Me: Easy! That’s normal. Go through the draft of the first project rewriting, editing, and rearranging. Repeat for the second project.
You: This is insane! Are we done now?
You: No, really. When the hell are we done?
Me: when you cannot stop reading your draft. When you laugh at your own writing because it’s so funny. When your characters surprise you, when you fall in love with them, when you find no more typos, when instead of feeling like a failure you cannot wait to share your book with the world. Then you’re done.
You: And how many times did you have to rewrite your drafts to get there?
Me: Oh my! I forgot my cracopot on the laundomover!
Me: Ah, maybe twenty? Thirty? Fifty? It depends on the book.
Just keep writing.
