What I liked: I liked the world where the story is set in, quite original, but most of all I LOVED that the characters use their own slang. GOOD THAT! I found myself speaking like them and, believe me, being a teacher it was rather comical. (Unfortunately most of my students are NOT bibliophiles and rarely appreciate my nerdy references he he)
Things I would have liked to see: (hey, but that’s just me). I would have LOVED to see some bromance. What can I say, a bunch of boys stuck for two years together and not one couple formed? Yeah, yeah I get it it’s an action YA, but I’m all for mixing genres. Life is a mess, so these books should be more inclusive of different parts of life... adventure, romance, and who knows what else. Also, I thought the end to be a bit underwhelming. I love series, but I very much like when each book is self standing, not just a bridge to the next one. So, yeah, it sort of ends, but too many things are left untied for my taste. Also, there is one girl into the whole book thrown in midway and she just kinds of floats there, with no real reason to be if not throwing in a weak element of romance. As if romance could not happen between boys...WTH!
Warning! I watched the movie after reading the book and while the premise is the same the storyline is completely different.
